Protect Your Privacy with a Temporary (Disposable) Email

Man with his identity hidden - Protect Your Privacy with a Temporary or Disposable Mailbox
There are tons of sites online that ask for our email address for granting access to certain content. But they are mostly not reliable enough to be shared personal information with. It is at such times when temporary email (or disposable email) services come to our rescue.

What Is a Temporary (Disposable) Email?

Having an email address is the part and parcel of modern life. Email makes communication easier than ever before. But it shares some of the drawbacks of the classic courier services. The greatest of these is the risk to receive unsolicited emails.
Temporary or disposable email address save us from this trouble. They are, as the term shows, available for you and the sender of an email for a short period of time and are automatically discarded after that. Temporary email providers are privacy sensitive and do not retain contents of any emails. Some, like Guerrilla Mail, also give you the opportunity to send anonymous emails.

Steps to Using a Temporary (Disposable) Email:

  1. Go to a site providing temporary email service, e.g. Guerrilla Mail.
  2. Pick up a temporary address generated just for you at the moment. Some sites give you the option to customize your temporary email, some generate it automatically. But it doesn't matter anyway!
  3. Copy the email address.
  4. Give it to anyone who asks for your email address but you don't want to share your personal email address with them.
  5. You'll receive the email from them right at this site. There must be an inbox in front of you. Go there and check for any new email.
  6. Having finished your work, discard the temporary email address so that all its record is erased.

We just can't afford staying away from the internet. Nor can we live without sharing our findings. But unlike most tech bloggers out there, we focus on the utilitarian aspect of the modern technology. If it's useful, it's great. If not, it's the most absurd invention on earth! :)
